The Vale Loves Reading

Reading is at the heart of everything we do at The Vale.

From our youngest children in Nursery exploring their first stories and sounds through phonics and mystery parent readers in Robin class, to our older pupils in the juniors reading for pleasure and curiosity—even at playtime!

A love of reading shines across our school.

This journey is supported by rich experiences, including our Junior Book Club, led by local author Stephanie Clarkson, whose retellings have inspired many of our budding readers and writers.

The dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils, and our commitment to developing confident, passionate readers all contribute to our excellent outcomes, with 57% of pupils achieving the Greater Depth standard in reading at KS2 last year, compared to 33% nationally.
