Welcome to The Vale Primary School and Nursery

On behalf of our staff and School Standards Board, I am delighted to welcome you to our school community. At The Vale, we want every child to feel happy, safe and valued, and to be inspired to strive for excellence in all that they do. We are passionate about nurturing a lifelong love of learning and helping each child grow in confidence, curiosity and independence. 

Our enriched curriculum, wider opportunities and Thrive approach all play an important part in supporting children to learn actively, develop personally and become well-rounded citizens. We are very proud of the positive learning behaviours our children demonstrate through our Vale Learner qualities. We encourage them to be caring, safe, respectful, ready, resilient and reflective, while also having the confidence to embrace challenge and try their best. 

Guided by our motto, ‘Inspiring All’, we believe that children thrive when staff, families, governors and pupils work together. We are proud of the warm and supportive relationships across our school and the strong sense of community that makes The Vale such a special place to learn and grow.

🌿🚶‍♀️🚲 Car Free Day at The Vale! 🚲🚶‍♂️🌿 What a fantastic start to the day as our school community came together for another successful Car Free Day! With the car park closed this morning, children, parents and staff embraced the opportunity to walk, scoot, cycle or take part in our Park and Stride initiative. The result was a calm, welcoming atmosphere around the school gates and a wonderful sense of community as families arrived together. Led by our dedicated Travel Working Party, this initiative encourages healthy lifestyles, promotes cleaner air and supports children to be active before the school day begins. It also helps pupils understand how the choices we make can have a positive impact on both our local community and the wider environment. We are incredibly proud of how our pupils have championed this initiative throughout the year. Today's event was a wonderful reflection of our school values, with children helping to create a healthier, safer and more sustainable future while demonstrating the strong sense of belonging that makes The Vale such a special place. 🌞🧺 A Picnic to Celebrate Our Community! 💙 Today, the whole school came together for a very special picnic on the field – an idea that came directly from our pupils through the School Council. The children wanted an opportunity for everyone to enjoy lunch together, celebrating the strong sense of community and belonging that makes The Vale such a special place. It was wonderful to see pupils from across the school sitting together, chatting, laughing and enjoying time with friends old and new. At The Vale, we are proud to listen to pupil voice and act on the ideas that matter most to our children. Today's picnic was a perfect example of this in action. As well as being lots of fun, it helped to strengthen friendships, promote inclusion and create lasting memories for our school community. Year 3 Pizzeria Showcase! ✨🍕 What a fantastic way to round off the school year! Today, our Year 3 children welcomed parents to their very own Pizzeria Showcase, hosting and waiting on their guests with confidence, maturity and plenty of smiles. Families enjoyed seeing the children's learning brought to life, while the children took great pride in sharing their achievements and demonstrating the skills they have developed throughout the year. From excellent teamwork and communication to outstanding hospitality, they truly rose to the occasion. It was a wonderful celebration of all that Year 3 have accomplished this year, and we are incredibly proud of every child. In Robin class we have been enjoying a new wider curriculum unit on 'Keeping safe and healthy'. We looked at what is inside and outside our body and that to look after it you need to eat healthy food daily and treats less often. We enjoyed listening to the story of 'Maya’s walk' and discussing how Maya and dad used their senses on their walks and the different parts of their walks. We thought about “when I have time outside, I feel…” (happy, relaxed, good, relaxed, full of Energy/energized). The story of 'Ready Steady Mo', was also a favourite with the children and learning about who Mo Farrah is and why he is special. Why is running a good thing? (you can do it in lots of places with friends and family and it is exercise, meaning it keeps your body fit and healthy.) What makes you feel? This afternoon, Y3 visited Elivia Homes to help fill some bug hotels. The children thoroughly enjoyed searching for minibeasts, particularly woodlice, and worked enthusiastically to fill the hotels. They had lots of fun and were even able to attach two of the bug hotels to a tree. What a Fantastic Culture Day at The Vale! ✨ Today has been a truly special celebration of diversity, creativity and community across our school. Children arrived dressed in a wonderful array of cultural clothing, proudly sharing their backgrounds, traditions and stories with one another — it was a joy to see such enthusiasm and pride in every classroom! 🌍 A real highlight of the day was our African Drumming Workshop, where pupils experienced the rhythm and energy of the djembe drum. We loved learning that the word “djembe” comes from a phrase meaning “together” — something we could feel so strongly as everyone joined in, worked as a team and created music collectively. The sound of drumming echoed across the school all day! Moments like these truly bring our value of belonging to life. We are so proud of how respectfully and enthusiastically our children embraced the day, learning from each other and celebrating what makes us all unique. With the whole school coming together in house teams, there was a real sense of togetherness, pride and belonging from start to finish. We’re proud to share that Sarah Leyland, Co-Head, represented local GLF schools at an event at the Houses of Parliament, where she met Helen Maguire, MP for Epsom and Ewell. The evening brought together schools, businesses and charities to strengthen support for young people.
