GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Robins enjoyed making potions during discovery time and turning themselves into frogs!! Discovery time is a designated time for child-led, play-based learning where children explore and apply skills in a rich, continuous provision environment. During this time, which is balanced with adult-led activities, children choose their own activities based on their interests, supported by adults who interact with them, provide resources, and offer guidance. This approach nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a deeper understanding through hands-on experiences. #learningthroughplay #eyfs #inspiring all @glfschools

Every Wednesday morning once the children are dressed up in their wellies and waterproofs it’s a short walk up to the woodland area on Epsom downs, where the children have free rein to explore, play and have unbounded adventures in a natural wild setting. We use this environment as our third teacher with resources being natural materials which create provocations to stimulate highly engaged play through fascination, awe and wonder. Reading is at the heart of everything we do at The Vale. From our youngest children in Nursery exploring their first stories and sounds through phonics and mystery parent readers in Robin class, to our older pupils in the juniors reading for pleasure and curiosity—even at playtime!—a love of reading shines across our school. The dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils, and our commitment to developing confident, passionate readers all contribute to our excellent outcomes, with 57% of pupils achieving the Greater Depth standard in reading at KS2 last year, compared to 33% nationally. We are so proud of our readers and the joy that books bring to our school community.

Six children in Year 6 took part in the SATRO stem competition today. They came an impressive 3rd place and are through to the finals in January! The judges were extremely impressed with their entry (which must stay secret for now) and their collaboration- well done SATRO six! 🥉💙
